Project history: Development of project 20I, modified for building at Soviet shipyards. Differed from a prototype by stronger AA and torpedo armament. Kiev and Erevan were towed off from Nikolaev to Poti in August, 1941 and their building was suspended. They were ultimately cancelled in August, 1952 and in May, 1954 respectively. Other ships were cancelled (built at Leningrad) or destroyed by German troops on the stocks (built at Nikolayev).
