Project history: Differed from a prototype by strengthened hull construction, arrangement of superstructures and internal compartments. By the moment of the beginning of WWI they were morally become outdated and had no the big battle value. Rated as torpedo boats, since September, 1907 as destroyers.
Modernizations: 1909, Boykiy, Bravyy, Bodryy, Vidnyy, Gromyashchiy; 1911, Zvonkiy; 1912, Zhivuchiy, Zhutkiy, Zorkiy, Leytenant Pushchin; 1913, Zhivoy, Groznyy; 1914, Zavetnyy, Zavidnyy; 1916, Zharkiy: - 5 x 1 - 47/40, 1 - 381 TT, 2 x 1 - 381 TT; + 1 x 1 - 75/48 Canet, 6 x 1 - 7.6/94, 2 x 1 - 450 TT
Naval service: Burny was wrecked 11.8.1904 off Shangtung beacon (Yellow Sea) and blown up by crew. Buynyy expended all fuel in battle off Tsushima and was sunk by gunfire of cruiser Dmitriy Donskoy 28.5.1905 in 70nm S of Dajelet Island. Bystry 28.5.1905 after Tsushima battle ran aground at Korean Coast and blown up by crew. Blestyashchiy and Gromkiy were badly damaged by Japanese ships 28.5.1905 and scuttled by own crews in Sea of Japan. Bedovy after Tsushima battle 28.5.1905 surrendered to Japanese in Tsushima Strait and was commissioned by IJN as Satsuki. Bezuprechnyy was sunk by Japanese cruiser Chitose 28.5.1905 in Tsushima Strait.
Boykiy, Grozny and Bodry were captured by Japanese at Vladivostok 30.6.1918, in 1922 destroyed by White Army and never repaired. Bravy was also captured by Japanese at Vladivostok by 30.6.1918 but after liberation by Red Army 25.10.1922 returned to fleet list. Leytenant Pushchin and Zhivuchiy were lost respectively at 9.3.1916 Varna and 25.4.1916 off Sevastopol on mines. Zavetny was scuttled by crew by order of Bolsheviks. Zhivoy was sunk during a storm at Sevastopol 15.11.1920. Zharkiy, Zvonkiy and Zorkiy were withdrawn to Bizerte in November, 1920 and in late 1920s sold for scrap by Soviet Government. Zavidny and Zhutkiy were abandoned by Whites, but never commissioned by Soviet Navy.
