Project history: Three-funnelled cruisers resembling the Novik but with three masts. The 4.7in guns were arranged as in Novik, but Zhemchug later had another two added to give a total of eight 4,7in.
Ship protection: The protective deck was 30mm with 50mm slopes and 70mm hoods over the engines, and the CT 30mm.
Modernizations: None.
Naval service: Izumrud was wrecked 29.5.1905 NE of Vladivostock after Tsushima and Zhemchug was surprised and sunk at Penang by German cruiser Emden with torpedoes and gunfire 28.10.1914.
