Project history: Mostly iron-hulled ships but Vestnik part steel and Nayezdnik, Plastun, Oprichnik composite, with a heavy barque-rig and double topsail yards. The iron-hulled vessels were sheathed with wood and Muntz metal. There were other differences between the ships, but they are best treated as one class. The 152mm guns were on the upper deck and could fire on either broadside.

Modernizations: None.

Naval service: Dzhigit and Razboynik were scuttled by screws in Port Arthur harbour at night 1-2.1.1905 before capitulation.
