Project history: Arctic icebreakers of project 51. 28.6.1941 in propagation time of commissioning trials Mikoyan was mobilized, converted to AMC and 26.8.1941 was commissioned by Black Sea Fleet. V. Molotov was completed as AMC 8.8.1941, re-classified as armed icebreaker 19.10.1941.

Modernizations: None.

Naval service: In November, 1941 A. Mikoyan was disarmed, then passed to North and was used on initial purpose with armament consisted from 3 76mm/50 Mk22 (US) guns and 8 single 20mm/70 Oerlikons. V. Molotov was transferred to mercantile service 2.2.1944 and served in Arctic till 1966.
