Project history: This was a hydrofoil derivative of the failed Project 184 with a gas turbine whose TRD-20P afterburner added thrust directly. On trials, the boat showed that it could be used at up to 45kts in Sea State 1. Two prototype torpedo boats were built for the Soviet Navy, then sixteen for the KGB Maritime Border Guards (as Project 125A); they were, in effect, successors to Project 199.

Modernizations: None.

Naval service: No significant events.
