Project history: This original ship was ordered by Polish government in France in 1934. According to the technical project, besides the basic purpose, minelaying, Gryf should fulfil functions of training ship and presidential yacht. The desire to place on her strong artillery at simultaneous limitation of displacement (for financial reasons) has led to that it was possible to assign not enough place for machinery that has predetermined its narrowness.
Modernizations: None.
Naval service: Gryf was damaged by German aircraft 1.9.1939 and was put on repair to floating dock. She was sunk by German aircraft 3.9.1939 (together with a floating dock) at Hel naval base.
