Project history: The acquisition of these Laubeuf type submarines was influenced by the French Naval Mission (1908-14) to Peru. They were transported to Peru in the Kangaroo which had been built specifically to carry submarines. Their careers were shortened due to the scarcity of batteries and spare parts.

Modernizations: None.

Naval service: No significant events.
