Project history: Ordered on 5 October 1963 and named after East Pakistan towns. Specially strengthened hulls with sea resistant aluminum alloy superstructures.
Modernizations: 1980s, Rajshahi: + 2 x 1 - 14.5/93
Naval service: All were attacked by Indian aircraft on 4 December 1971 off Chittagong. Rajshahi was hit six times by four Hunter jets, set on fire, losing one killed and six wounded but regained port after the crew checked flooding and fire in the engine room. Nine aircraft sank Comilla in the same action. Jessore and Sylhet destroyed in air strikes from the carrier Vikrant the same day at Khulna to the West. Jessore salvaged by Bangladeshi Navy.
