Project history: Built under a five-year naval programme voted in 1960, half the cost being carried by the United States. Based on the design of US Dealey class destroyer escorts, but with many modifications, including increased freeboard forward to suit sea conditions off the Norwegian coast.
Modernizations: 1972-1976, all: - 2 - 533 TT, helicopter deck; + 6 x 1 Penguin Mk 1 SSM (6 Penguin Mk 1), 1 x 8 NATO-Sea Sparrow SAM (24 RIM-7M), 2 x 3 - 324 TT, Mk 95 radar

Naval service: Oslo ran aground 24.1.1994 near Marstein island. The next day she was taken under tow and sank later on the same day in Korsfjorden off Steinneset.
