Project history: Built as patrols for Gouvernementmarine. On construction they were increased version of Rigel and should can carry 80 mines (on other data, up to 160). Besides, according to some information, they were planned to usage as seaplane tenders.
Ram after launch has been towed off to Tjilitjap where she was scuttled incomplete 2.3.1942. She was raised by Japanese in May, 1943 and towed on completion to Surabaya. Regulus was captured by Japanese on a slipway in Surabaya. Both were renamed Nanshin and Nankai respectively and completed by Japanese as gunboats. Nankai was sunk by USN submarine Blenny 16.7.1945. Nanshin was never completed and after war handed over on demolition.
