Project history: Usable as training ships, coastal craft tenders, command & control ships and troops transports. Ships had helicopter deck (with helicopter deck on Mahawangsa is effectively double larger than on Sri Indera Sakti due to lack of funnel), side ports for vehicles aft and 16t crane amidships. Also large operation room, vehicle holds and divers' compression chamber are included. Mahawangsa can carry 410 tons of ammunition, both ships have 1000m³ of cargo space for spare parts, 10 standard 20ft containers can be carried on deck amidships. Both can carry 17 tanks but Mahawangsa can also stow 11 3-ton trucks on deck beneath the helicopter platform. 680m² vehicle deck equipped by side ramps can also accommodate up to 600 troops.
Modernizations: None.
Naval service: No significant events.
