Project history: Six patrol craft were ordered from Vosper, Portsmouth, in September 1961 for delivery in 1963; the next four were ordered in March 1963 for delivery in 1965, followed by fourteen more in 1965 for delivery in 1966-68. Various minor improvements have been made in each group but the basic design is the same - an all-welded hull with aluminium superstructure.

Modernizations: None.

Naval service: In 2006 almost all boats were transferred to Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA). Sri Melaka served since completion in the Sabah Maritime Police.
