Project history: 'Combattante IIG' type boats, ordered in 1977. Delay in commission of this class explains by the French embargo on arms sales to Libya, imposed because of Libyan intervention into Chad.

Modernizations: None.

Naval service: Waheed was sunk 24.3.1986 by forces of the US 6th Fleet in the Gylf of Syrth. Shehab, Wahag, Shouaiai, Shoula, Rad and Laheeb were damaged by NATO aircraft during raids in May 2011 and abandoned.
