Project history: Replacements for the WWII-era LSTs. Have a helicopter deck aft and resemble LSTs built in South Korea for Venezuela and Indonesia, except that they have a drive-through tank deck and stern ramp. Are able to carry up to 1800t of cargo (690 maximum beaching load) and about 200 troops; up to 17 main battle tanks can be accommodated. The articulating bow ramp extends to 14.5m and is 4.5m wide; the articulating stern ramp extends to 10.9m and is 4.9m wide. A 6.1m-diameter turntable is fitted at the forward end of the tank deck, and there is a 9x4m elevator to the upper deck.
Modernizations: None.
Naval service: No significant events.
