Project history: Enlarged versions of the Takami class, and also wooden hulled. Besides conventional sweep gear, they carried unmanned minehunting vehicles.

1995, Hatsushima; 1996, Ninoshima, Miyajima: - minesweeping equipment, ZQS-2B sonar; + decompression chamber

1998, Niijima; 1999, Yakushima; 2002, Hahajima; 2004, Kamijima; 2006, Ogishima, Sakushima: + SAM-type minesweeping drone control equipment
