Project history: A much larger and more capable class of escorts, comparable to the earlier smaller destroyers. Two ordered in successive estimates 1987-80. Fitted for towed-array sonar but never carried.

Modernizations: late 1990s, both, to reduce topweight: - 2 x 2 Harpoon SSM (2 x 2 totally)

2010s, some: - NOLQ-6C ECM suite; + NOLR-8 ECM suite

Naval service: No significant events.
