Project history: An improved Hatsuyuki with upgraded electronics and a new propulsion plant. The last four were completed with further improved radar and helicopter data link; originally the helicopters carried were Sea Kings, later replaced by Sea Hawks. The after funnel and mast arrangements had to be altered because of gas turbine exhaust problems.

 

Modernizations: 1990s, all: - 1 HSS-2B helicopter; + 1 SH-60 helicopter
