Project history: Design was developed on the basis of destroyer Umikaze, differed by increased engine power and stronger armament. Built under the 1915 Programme. As a whole ships have appeared successful; it is necessary to refer to their lacks only complexity of three-shaft machinery and out-of-date British-origin 120mm guns.
Modernizations: None.
Naval service: Tokitsukaze 25.3.1918 has had an accident at shores of Kyushu: she was broken apart and has sunk, but has been salvaged in July, repaired and commissioned again in February, 1920. After discarding three ships have broken up, and Tokitsukaze during long time served as a training hulk. She have handed over on demolition only in March, 1948.
