Naval service: Ammunition explosion has happened in the spring of 1907 on Mishima. Both ships participated from 27.10.1914 till 1.11.1914 in bombardment of coast positions of Germans in Tsingtao. Okinoshima served as TS, in 1915 she was disarmed and converted to barrack ship; she was sold for scrap in 1939. Mishima in 1918 was disarmed and converted into the icebreaker (ram was sheared, fwd turret demounted), the aft turret was stored. In 1928 Mishima was stricken and converted to repair ship, and later to a hulk. In 1936 the former battleship was converted to target and sunk on manoeuvres.
