Project history: Former Chinese gunboat Yung Chien, captured by Japanese in 1937, renamed Asuga and entered service in the IJN as MTB depot ship. Since 1940 she was used at Shanghai.
In 1945 Asuga was reclassified to AA floating battery.
Modernizations: None.
Naval service: 7.5.1945 Asuga was sunk by American aircraft in mouth of Yellow River. After war she was salvaged and commissioned by Chinese Navy as Yen An.
