Project history: First class of submarines designed by Eng Lt Commander Curio Bernardis, who became a well-known submarine designer. Their hulls were similar to those of a torpedo-boat. Originally it was planned to have a third TT on the deck, but this was not mounted.
Modernizations: None.
Naval service: Nereide sunk 5.8.1915 near Pelagosa Is (Adriatic), by torpedoes of the Austrian submarine U5.
