Project history: Designed by Eng Lieut Cesare Laurenti, this class may be considered an experimental one, even though it was the first mass-produced class. There were some differences among the boats, eg the TT, three for Glauco reduced to two in the rest. Their motors were not reliable and the petrol aboard was a continuous source of danger.
Modernizations: None.
Naval service: During the war they were employed for harbour defence at Brindisi and Venice.
