Project history: The most numerous series of Italian submarines. The project was developed by Fiat-San Giorgio. First 3 submarines were built in 1913-1914 for Brazil, later 3 for Portugal and 3 more for Spain. Boats had an easy manoeuvrability.

Modernizations: None.

Naval service: F8 was sunk 14.2.1917 as result of accident during trials, but was raised and commissioned in September of the same year. F14 was lost 6.8.1928 because of collision with destroyer Giuseppe Missori.
