Project history: Shallow-draught flat-bottom minesweepers intended for operations on the rivers and in the bays (with depth to 2.3m) of German FM37 class. On modern classification they are similar to coastal minesweepers, on German classification they were large motor boats. FM37 and FM38 were completed in 1923 for merchant owner but in 1938-1939 requisitioned by Italian Navy and commissioned as minesweepers.

Modernizations: None.

Naval service: Arco Azurro was sunk 23.10.1942 at Genoa by Allied aircraft.
