Project history: Development of Indomito class with artillery of uniform calibre, increased capacity of oil fuel tanks and cruising turbines.
In 1929 they were re-rated as torpedo boats. By 1940 their speed did not exceed 25kts.
Modernizations: 1919 - 1921, all: - 6 x 1 - 76/40; + 5 x 1 - 102/35 S1914-1915, 2 x 1 - 40/39 V1917, 2 x 1 - 6.5/80
1941 - 1942, all survived: - 3 x 1 - 102/35, 2 x 1 - 40/39, 2 x 1 - 450 TT; + 6 x 1 - 20/65 Breda 1940, 2 DCT
1953 - 1954, Giuseppe Cesare Abba, Antonio Mosto: were converted to fast minesweepers; - 1 x 1 - 102/35, (2 - 4) x 1 - 20/65, 2 x 1 - 450 TT; + radar, mechanical minesweeping gear
Naval service: Fratelli Cairoli 23.12.1940 was lost on a mine laid by British submarine Porpoise off Tripoli. Simone Schiaffino 24.4.1941 was lost on Italian mines at coast of Tunisia. Giuseppe Dezza 16.9.1943 was captured by German troops at Fiume, renamed TA35 and 17.8.1944 was lost on a mine off Pola. Giuseppe Missori 10.9.1943 was captured by German troops at Durazzo, renamed TA22, 25.6.1944 hard damaged by British aircraft SE off Trieste and scuttled at Trieste 2.5.1945.
