Project history: Design of L. Scaglia in association with Thornycroft.

Modernizations: 1905, Nembo, Turbine: - 1 x 1 - 76/40; + 1 x 1 - 350 TT, 1 - 350 TT (bow)

1908 - 1912, all: boilers were converted to oil burning, one additional funnel was arranged.

1909, all: received fully new armament consisted of 4 x 1 - 76/40 A, 2 x 1 - 450 TT

1915, all survived: + (10 - 16) mines

1919 - 1921, all survived: 1 fwd boiler with its funnel was removed (~3400hp, ~25kts); - 1 x 1 - 76/40; + 1 x 1 - 6.5/80

Naval service: Nembo was torpedoed 17.10.1916 by Austrian submarine U16 in Southern Adriatic (U16 also was sunk, possibly, from explosion of depth charges of the same destroyer). Turbine was lost in Southern Adriatic in action with Austrian cruiser Helgoland and destroyers Csepel, Tatra and Lika 24.5.1915. Borea was sunk off Albanian coast by Austrian destroyers Csepel and Balaton 15.5.1917. Survived ships were reclassified as torpedo boats in July 1921.
