Project history: 4 ships of Curtatone class have been ordered in 1915 and originally belonged to Palestro class, but their building was suspended till an end of the war. The laying down was happened only in 1920 under the changed design in which, in comparison with a prototype, have brought a number of the innovations, concerning armament structure and arrangement. Curtatone class ships became the first Italian destroyers with all armament placed at centre line. For the first time in the European practice 102mm guns were installed in twin mounts. Besides, these ships received triple TTs instead of twin.
In 1938 they were re-rated as torpedo boats.

Naval service: Curtatone 20.5.1941 was sunk by on Greek mines at Piraeus. Castelfidardo 9.9.1943 was captured by German troops at Suda, renamed TA16 and lost during British air raid 1.6.1944. Calatafimi 9.9.1943 was captured by German troops at Piraeus, renamed TA19 and 9.8.1944 was sunk by Greek submarine Pipinos at Samos.
