Project history: Former USN Gleaves class destroyer, transferred under MDAP.

 

Modernizations: None.

 

Naval service: In 1970 Aviere was converted to an experimental ship, she was used to test new weapon systems (Albatros SAM, OTO Melara 127mm/54 and 76mm/62 guns). In 1975 she was sunk as target.
