Project history: Best light (actually protected) cruiser of WWI Italian Navy. Quarto was commissioned as scout and reclassified as cruiser in September 1938. On trials she reached 28.61kts with 29215hp power. 8 boilers from 10 were used purely oil and 2 coal and oil. Quarto differed by high quality of machinery and till the end of the long service could develop 28kts.
Ship protection: Main protection consisted of deck with slopes.
