Project history: These vessels were designed by Eng Director Carlo Vigna and were a repetition of Giovanni Bausan.

Ship protection: There was thin sloping protective deck.

Modernizations: 1907, Etna: was armed with 4 x 1 - 152/40 A99, 2 x 1 - 120/40 A91, 2 x 1 - 76/40 A, 1 x 1 - 75/21 Uchatius 29cwt BL No1, 4 x 1 - 57/40 H, 2 x 1 - 47/40 H, 2 x 1 - 37/25 H lungo, 1 x 1 - 11.4/94

Naval service: Etna served as a TS from 1907 to Sept 1914; during the First World War she was employed as a harbour headquarters ship, later as a harbour defence ship and lastly as a depot ship and headquarters for the C-in-C Italian Fleet at Taranto.
