Project history: Fast turbine-driven scout cruisers, but deprived of armoured belt because of what actually they should be rated as protected cruisers. In comparison with the predecessor, Quarto, they were larger, but reached lower speed (on trials Marsala has shown 27.66kts, Bixio 26.82kts).
Ship protection: Main protection consisted of deck with slopes.
Modernizations:
1916, Marsala: 12 of 14 boilers were modified to burning oil only.1920s, both: + 2 x 1 - 40/39 Vickers-Terni 1917
Naval service: Because of strong deterioration of machinery both were sold for BU in the late twenties.
