Project history: Larger, than 1930th-built MAS boats. As a prototype for them German-built boats of Yugoslavian Navy captured by Italians in 1941 have served. After trials of these boats which have appeared notably more seaworthy than MAS of "500" class, in June, 1941 their almost exact copies have been ordered. To stress the increased battle qualities of new boats, their indexation was replaced from MAS to MS. Composite hulls. DCs used on MS, were heavier, than applied on MAS: 100kg against 50.
Modernizations: 1949, MV611 - 613: were armed with 2 x 1 - 20/65 Breda 1940
1952, MS611 - 613: + 2 - 533 TT (4), (6 - 8) DC
1960, MS472, 473: new diesels were installed (4500hp, 33kts); boats were converted to convertible MTB / MGB armed with 1 x 1 - 40/60 Mk 3, 2 - 450 TT, mines as MTB or 2 x 1 - 40/60 Mk 3, mines as MGB.
Naval service: No significant events.
