Project history: RN boats, both refitted in Great Britain before delivery to Israel in December 1959 (Tanin) and May 1960 (Rahav). Originally very handy craft, capable of making a 'crash dive' in 30 seconds, and both fitted with 'Snort' mast and sonar domes.
Modernizations: None.
Naval service: Tanin put frogmen into Alexandria on 5 June 1967. They did not return. Rahav, unable to submerge, was stricken after serving as an ASW ship in the Six Day War as worn out in 1968 and was cancelled to keep Tanin in commission, and Tanin herself was awaiting disposal in 1972. Used for training.
