Project history: Acquisition of these RN subs by Israel was announced in November 1964. During RN service all three submarines were modernized under 'T Conversion' program.

Modernizations: None.

Naval service: Dakar was lost with all hands in the E Mediterranean on passage from Britain 25.1.1968.
