Project history: Shimrit class was ordered from Grumman Lantana Yard, USA. It was intended to build up to 12 such craft in Israel. Eventually only Shlomit was built in Haifa. Programme encountered many delays. On trials Shimrit did not reach the designeed 52kts speed, attaining only 47-48. Turning radius at 45kts was 200m. Aluminium construction. Pinepple-shaped radome concealed radar, fire control and countermeasures aerials.

Modernizations: None.

Naval service: No significant events.
