Project history: Twelve former GDR fast medium landing ships of the 'Frosch 1' class built by VEB Peenewerft, Wolgast, to an indigenous East German design 1976-79. Officially transferred to Indonesia 25 August 1993. Refitted in German yards prior to transfer, where all armament was removed, to be replaced later after delivery. A very valuable addition to the Indonesian Navy's landing forces in view of the block obsolescence of the ex-US LST 511 type landing ships.

Modernizations: 2005, Teluk Manado, Teluk Hading: diesels were replaced by 2 SEMT-Pielstick 6PA6L

Naval service: Teluk Lampung was wrecked 3.6.1994 during transfer but was refitted. Teluk Peleng foundered in November 2013.

Teluk Sangkuring 2005
