Project history: Bima Samudera I was purchased by the Indonesian Agency for the development and Application of Technology for evaluating such a craft in naval patrol, logistic support and civil roles. First craft arrived to Indonesia in February 1982. Aluminium construction.
The hydrofoil contract with Boeing Marine Services called for two each of two versions of the basic Jetfoil design, with completion taking place in Indonesia. Initially 47 craft were planned to order. First four series craft were built by Boeing and delivered to Indonesia for fitting out. Only two first boat in troop transport configuration were commissioned by Indonesian Navy. Two others, intended as gunboats, were completed by Boeing in 1986 but were never delivered to Indonesia.
