Project history: Former Volksmarine corvettes built by VEB Peenewerft, Wolgast. Following the reunification of Germany a few remained in service with the Bundesmarine for a short period. Formally transferred to Indonesia on 25 August 1993. All refitted prior to transfer, with increased range and air-conditioning fitted in accommodation spaces, retaining original armament. Good sea boats with a good turn of speed, but their multi-cylinder Soviet engines have proved a constant source of trouble.
