Project history: Lürssen PB57 variant I (SAR) craft. These ships ordered from West Germany in 1982 are SAR, transport and patrol version of the combat vessels of the 'FPB 57 Nav I' and II rype. All built by PT PAL SY, Surabaya with the first two shipped from Lürssen and the second pair assembled by PT PAL. Have raised 13.0x7.1m helicopter deck at the stern for NBO-105 helcopter. All fitted with 70m range water cannon of 294m³/h capacity for fire fighting. Two rescue launches are stowed aft. Originally destined for Maritime Security Agency. As transports can carry two rifle platoons.
Modernizations: 1995, Barakuda: + type 1007 radar
2/2001, Tongkol: two small RIBs were replaced by one large; + 2 x 1 - 14.5/89
