Modernizations: 1999, Sindhuvir; 2001, Sindhuraj, Sindhukesari; 2002, Sindhuratna; 2005, Sindhugosh; 2008, Sindhuvijay; 2012, Sindhurakshak; 2016, Sindhukirti: as Project 08773 + Club-S SSM (3M-54E), 91RE1 ASuM instead of part of torpedoes

2005, Singhugosh; 2007, Sindhuvijay; 2011, Sindhukirti: - MGK-400E Rubikon-E sonar suite; + USHUS sonar suite

Naval service: Sindhurakshak accidentally fired, exploded  and sank at pier in Mumbai 14.8.2013. She was salvaged 6.6.2014 but finally scuttled in the Arabian Sea in June 2017.
