Project history: The first ex-USN LSD to be acquired, Hyperion (LSD9, transferred to RN by lend-lease as Eastway), was taken over by the Greek Navy in 1953 and acted as the HQ Ship for the Greek amphibious forces. She was replaced in 1971 by ex-US Fort Mandan (LSD21), also renamed Nafkratousa, which had received a FRAM I modernization.
