Project history: Original ships with unusual placing of main guns (two in bow casemate and one on aft barbette) and high speed.
Ship protection: Belt had 305mm thickness tapered to 76mm at lower edge. Ship ends were protected by 114mm belt. Main casemate had 350mm sides and 300mm roof, aft barbette had 305mm sides.
Modernizations: 1897 - 1900, all: - 5 x 1 - 150/34, 4 x 1 - 90/22, 4 x 1 - 37/20, 1 - 356 TT (bow); + 1 x 1 - 100/48 Canet, 8 x 1 - 65/50 Canet, 4 x 5 - 37/17, 1 - 381 TT (bow)
1908 - 1910, all: were armed with 5 x 1 - 150/45 Schneider
1914 - 1915, all: - 2 x 1 - 150/45; + 6 x 1 - 37/20 Hotchkiss
Naval service: All were stricken at first in 1919, but continued to serve as training auxiliaries and hulks. All were broken up in 1929.
