Project history: Designation 'Project 12.3', this vessel was fitted with the CODAG experimental power plant, as the second 'Hai' class prototype. The planned twin 57mm AA mounting was not fitted on the afterdeck because of stability problems. She was commissioned as the experimental vessel V-81, and renamed Werdau in 1973.
