Project history: This 'Hydra' design was prepared by Yachtwerft, Berlin, under the designation 'Project 68', competing with the 'litis' class; they were larger and slower, but more powerfully armed and more suited to general purpose use. The wooden hull backed by aluminium alloy frames was stepped aft to accommodate three single stern-fired tail-first TTs which could be removed to carry mines or accommodate landing parties. 81.1 was experimental hydrofoil launch.
Modernizations: None.
Naval service: No significant events.
68.200 series as FAC (torpedo)
