Project history: Outdated Italian torpedo boats of Palestro class, captured at Piraeus 9.9.1943 and commissioned by Germans 28.10.1943 (TA17) and 25.7.1944 (TA18). Real max speed was about 25kts and an endurance 600(20)nm.
Modernizations: late 1943, TA17: + 1 x 1 - 37/80 SK C/30
late 1943, TA18: - 2 x 2 - 450 TT; + 4 x 1 - 20/65 M1940, 1 x 2 - 533 TT
Naval service: Both served in Aegean Sea. TA17 was damaged on a mine 18.6.1944, repair was not completed, 18.9.1944 she was additionally damaged during air raid and 12.10.1944 scuttled at Salamis. TA18 19.10.1944 was damaged in battle against British destroyers Termagant and Tuscan in Aegean Sea, ran aground off Volos and destroyed.
