Project history: Improved and enlarged variant of type 1939, would had optical/electronic rangefinders developed previously for 1944 type destroyer, but with old artillery types. T40 - 50 were destroyed by builders when Red Army approached Elbing, almost completed T37 - 39 were transferred to USA and scuttled.
