Project history: These ships were designed around machinery already available on Dutch shipyards for incomplete destroyers. As result there were in fact genuine destroyers, which were to built in Dutch yards. T61 was torpedoed by Allied aircraft being towed to Germany for fitting out. T66 was bombed on slip in 1944. Remaining turbines and boilers were later used for Dutch postwar destroyers of Holland class.
