Project history: Improved version of type 1923. Differed in a little bigger dimensions and increased steam output of boilers. Wolf and Leopard were equipped with Brown-Boveri turbines, Iltis and Tiger by Vulkan, Jaguar and Luchs by Schichau. It was supposed to arm these torpedo boats with 127mm guns, but under pressure of Great Britain 105mm/55 guns of new model have been fitted.

Naval service: In 1936-1938 all boats actively acted at coast of Spain. Tiger was lost 27.8.1939 as a result of collision with destroyer Max Schultz at Bornholm. Leopard was lost 30.4.1940 as result of collision with minelayer Preussen in Skagerrack. Luchs was sunk 26.7.1940 by British submarine Thames off Stavanger. Wolf was lost 8.1.1941 on a mine, laid by British patrol launch in La Manche. Iltis was sunk 13.5.1942 by British MTB221 in La Manche. Jaguar was lost 15.6.1944 during raid of British aircraft to Le Havre.
