Project history: Ex-Italian harbor submarines, captured during building. Incomplete UIT18 was damaged by Allied bombers 25.5.1944 at Monfalcone, building was cancelled.

Naval service: UIT17 was captured by Italian partisans and allied with Italian Navy in April, 1945.
